Kaylee Gatto value and color wheel
The value wheel was less challenging that the color wheel. I had to redo the value wheel a few times because the colors looked like the same shade. Also, since I used charcoal it was more difficult because it kept smudging. The color wheel was hard for some colors. I couldn't get them to perfectly match the color wheel. Although, from this whole project I learned the I was wrong all along about the primary colors. I have always thought they were red, yellow, and blue, when really they are yellow, magenta, and cyan.
The media I like using best was the acrylic paints. They were less messy. Charcoal was really frustrating because it went everywhere and went out of the lines of the value wheel then had to be eraser. Overall, acrylic paint is easier and less messy to use. I think the most important discovery was that I had been taught the wrong primary colors. This was surprising to me because anyone that thinks of the primary colors thinks of red, yellow, and blue. From the videos, I learned the importance of certain colors being mixed together and how much of each color must be used. I also learned that making certain colors is not as easy as one would think. It took me a lot of time to get the colors the way they came out and they still weren't perfect like in the book. I liked the videos in helping me creating these pictures. If it wasn't for the videos, I probably wouldn't of been able to make the colors the way I did.
